Rapid organic conversion is simply speeding up the natural process of decomposing organic material. In some cases, plastic bags for example, this process moves from taking hundreds of years to a few seconds.

By speeding up the conversion process the ROC is able to capture the energy that is always released but is lost during natural decomposition.

The ROC uses some of the same principles as gasifiers. However, unlike gasifiers the ROC completes the natural organic decomposition process. This means that organic compounds are completely broken down into carbon dioxide, water and energy.

Unlike many other gasification processes the destruction of the organic material in the feedstock is complete and does not require additional disposal methods. The mineral content of the feedstock becomes ash that may be useful in industrial processes (e.g., concrete aggregate) or as an agricultural fertilizer.

Unlike many other waste disposal methods, the ROC requires no preparatory work on feedstock. There is no chipping, sorting or sizing or blending required. This reduces maintenance and equipment costs as well as limits the personal required for operation.
