Most people will simply define municipal solid waste as “garbage”.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) defines municipal solid waste as waste collected and treated by municipalities. This includes waste from households, waste from yards and waste from businesses and offices. This definition does not include waste from municipal sewage networks.
